The study found a positive correlation between Airbnb listings and crimes like robbery and burglary from 2015 to 2018. Researchers argue the rise in crime is due to more opportunities, as tourists are easier targets, and vacant properties attract burglars. Airbnb called the report misleading, citing its crime prevention measures and arguing that broader crime trends and travel peaks were not considered.
